Willem Huender, 88

Born Oct. 20, 1933, in Bergen, Holland to Willem and Alida Huender. Died Jan. 6, 2022. He had an older sister, Lieke Broerse Huender and a younger brother, Jan Willem Huender.
Willem grew up in foreign countries including Finland, Germany, England, Java, The Philippines and Suriname because of his father’s position in the diplomatic service of Holland. He served in the Dutch Army and immigrated to the Unites States in 1957. He lived in Massachusetts the first couple of years, then he moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., where he met his wife to be, Evelyn Lie. They were married in Norway Sept. 22, 1962. In 1970 they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They have three children, Spencer, Mark and Kim and one grandson, Leif.
Over the years Willem had several businesses including a pizza restaurant, a fence company, and auto part store, sandblasting business and real estate. He had a contractor’s license and a realtor’s license. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, target shooting, bowling, but most of all, being with his family.
Willem was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother.
A celebration of his life will be held at Avondale Golf Course, Jan. 23, 2022 at 2 p.m..
Willem leaves his wife of 59 years, Evelyn and his 3 children, Spencer Huender (K.C. Curtis), Mark Huender (Elaine Huender), Kim Scoggins (Christopher Scoggins) and grandson Leif Huender.
