PREP BASKETBALL: Timberlake locks in from foul line, beats Bonners Ferry

SPIRIT LAKE — Emma Patrick scored 11 points for Timberlake, which finished 10 of 13 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter of an 43-36 Intermountain League win over the Bonners Ferry Badgers at Timberlake High on Wednesday.
“Emma hit some clutch free throws down the stretch,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “We were able to get a lead and hit some free throws late. It was a hard fought game. Both teams played hard.”
Ciara Soumas scored nine points for Timberlake (12-4, 4-0 IML), which plays at Kellogg on Friday.
Kaylee Sumpter scored nine points for Bonners Ferry (7-9, 1-2).

SPIRIT LAKE — Zach Yetter scored 21 points for the Tigers, who started fast before falling to the Badgers 63-45 in an Intermountain League game at Timberlake High.
“We came out and executed what we wanted to do,” Timberlake coach Mike LaFountaine said. “We got into some foul trouble and ran out of legs in the second quarter. Bonners Ferry is a good team, plays fundamentally strong and we gave up too many second-chance shots.”
Braden Blackmore scored 19 points for Bonners Ferry (8-6, 1-0 IML).
Hunter Higgins scored 10 points for Timberlake (5-6, 0-2), which plays at Kellogg on Friday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Bryce Snow scored 13 points, all in the third quarter, for the Timberwolves JV in a win over the Jaguars at Lake City High.
“They shot the ball really well and they’re a well coached team,” said Genesis Prep coach Lon Morast, whose team played its ninth straight away game. “They had that big third quarter, and that was very pivotal.”
Tristan Snowder scored 13 points for Genesis Prep (5-6), which hosts St. Maries at The Courts at Real Life tonight.

HARRISON FLATS — Blake Coburn scored 20 points for the Wildcats JV in a win over the Warriors at Kootenai High.
“They just executed better on their side,” Kootenai coach Jake Pfeiffer said. “We’ve been struggling with our passes and need to continue to improve. We’ll keep working to get better.”
“We were looking for a physical game and they gave us one,” Kellogg JV coach Josh McDonald said. “It took about a quarter to get going, but once we did, we didn’t really look back. Blake had a very patient 20 points and did a good job of letting the game come to him and not forcing the issue in a game where we probably could have.”
Kellogg JV hosts Timberlake on Friday.

Due to COVID-19 issues at Priest River and Orofino High, games involving the St. Maries boys and girls basketball teams at Orofino on Saturday, as well as a girls game at Priest River next Tuesday have been postponed.
