CLARK FORK — Clark Fork boys basketball capped off a perfect 4-0 season in North Star League play Tuesday night with a 60-31 victory over Mullan.
The Wampus Cats led 32-6 at the half and held the Tigers to a single point in the second quarter.
"The victory was an important stepping stone for our team in regards to our league," head coach Heath Beason said. "Mullan was tough tonight, they came out ready to play."
With the win, Clark Fork secured the No. 1 seed to the 1A Division II District 1 tournament.
"Tonight was an emotional night because there were a lot of things on the line," Beason said. "The kids came out anxious and excited, and I think they were a little bit overexcited."
Sam Barnett led Clark Fork with 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
"Sam had a great night," Beason said. "He controlled the game and he played phenomenal defense."
Carter Sanroman tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and five steals.
"Without Sam and Carter stepping up tonight and keeping everything in line, we would have been in trouble on so many occasions," Beason said.
Nathan Shelton grabbed 10 points and six rebounds, Chase Sanroman scored 7 points and Cole Sanroman added 6 points.
Clark Fork (9-6) will carry a six-game winning streak into a matchup at Kellogg JV on Wednesday.
