KELLOGG — Clark Fork boys basketball remained undefeated in 2022 with a 53-24 victory at Kellogg JV on Wednesday night.

The Wampus Cats shot out to a 34-12 halftime lead and a win was never in doubt.

Head coach Heath Beason said Clark Fork's ability to rebound allowed them to see plenty of success against the Wildcats.

"We were more aggressive on the boards offensively and defensively and I think that was the key of this game," he said.

Carrying a 22-point advantage into the locker room, the Wampus Cats could have gotten complacent in the final two quarters, but Beason made sure they didn't.

"We went into the second half of the game and I said, 'Look we're at 0-0. We have goals that we are trying to accomplish this year and we have not finished that goal, and our goal is to take one game at a time,'" he said.

Everyone on the bench saw the court for the Wampus Cats and once again, seniors Carter Sanroman and Sam Barnett led the way.

Carter scored a team-high 22 points in three quarters of action.

"Carter missed one shot and he made sure everything was an inside shot," Beason said.

Barnett tallied 9 points and was a menace on defense, Beason said. Ethan Howard and Chase Sanroman each had 4 points.

Clark Fork has won seven straight games and the team is oozing with confidence right now, but Beason said this group is doing a great job of staying in the present.

"They aren't talking future," he said, "they are talking about the next game and we let the cards fall where they fall, and so far they are seeing the hard work pay off."

The Wampus Cats (10-6) head to Immaculate Conception Academy on Friday.
