COEUR d'ALENE — On Friday, five Sandpoint wrestlers advanced to the final day of the North Idaho Rumble.

Andrew Duke (98), Forest Ambridge (126), Christian Troumbley-Karkoski (160), Calvin Hinds (170) and Owen Wimmer (170) will all take the mat Saturday for the Bulldogs, along with Emma Garman, Rylie Hancock and Aurla Palmer, who are wrestling on the girls side of the tournament.

Only 10 Bulldogs competed on the first day. Head coach Jake Stark said about half the team wasn't able to make the trip to the North Idaho Rumble due to sickness.

Troumbley-Karkoski went 2-1 and pinned teammate Jorden Tyler to stay alive in the tournament.

"He did really good," Stark said. "He's one of our guys that went to all three offseason camps and kind of paid his dues in the offseason, and now he's reaping the benefits."

Hinds, Wimmer and Ambridge posted 2-1 records as well.

"Forest Ambridge is stepping it up," Stark said. "He's another one of those guys that went to a couple of the camps with us this summer and got all that mat time, and he's pulling off some wins."

Hinds and Wimmer will face each other in a loser-out match Saturday morning.

Duke went 0-1 and will battle Jonathan Todd from American Falls to open action Saturday.

At 152 pounds, Darrian Resso was winning his opening match before he tweaked his knee, Stark said. Resso ended up losing that bout and then Stark decided to pull him out of the tourney as a precaution.

Colm McLaimtaig (106), Hayden Sorbel (113), Keith Poirier (126), Caeden McLaimtaig (132), Aidan Troumbley (132) and Matyus McLain (195) all advanced to the second day of the tourney for Priest River.

The North Idaho Rumble wraps up Saturday.
