KELLOGG — The Silver Valley’s Meals on Wheels is one of several local causes to benefit big from the generosity of Dave Smith Motors in this past year, receiving a $50,000 donation to help feed local elders of the Silver Valley.

In 2021 alone, Dave Smith Motors sponsored more than 80 different local causes and events, including several local athletic programs, monthly sponsorships at the local pet rescues, new bleachers at all of the baseball fields for the Silver Valley Little League, and local museums.

Dave Smith Motors General Manager Troy Hojem is deeply rooted in the Silver Valley having lived in Shoshone County for many years. Representatives from the company note that supporting the community is something that he holds as a key value and said, “With over 30 years in the automotive industry, General Manager, Troy Hojem, understands the importance of giving back to the community. Now in charge of both the Coeur d’Alene and Kellogg dealerships, Troy proudly sponsored as many local causes as possible. Altogether his 2021 sponsorships added up to over $250,000.”

Meals on Wheels program manager Darrell Lemieux is thrilled that his program was chosen as a beneficiary of Hojem’s benevolence, and said that it has helped ensure long-term success for the Meals on Wheels program.

“It just got us to a point where things are completely sustainable now,” Lemiuex said. “It’s just such a blessing. I don't even know how to put it into words other than, just incredible.”
