Hellgate drops Flathead in battle of unbeatens

MISSOULA — Bailee Sayler led four Missoula Hellgate players in double figures with 13 points, and the Knights handed Flathead an emphatic first loss Saturday, 58-22.
Maddy Moy scored 10 points to lead the Bravettes, who came into the battle of unbeatens with a 10-0 record and left the Hellgate gym in second place in the Western AA (6-1 in league).
Alex Covill, Addy Heaphy and Perry Paffhausen added 11 points each for Hellgate (10-0 overall, 6-0 in the Western AA). The Knights saw Sayler score eight points in the first quarter, and Covill pour in nine in the third while the lead grew to 45-19.
In between Heaphy hit a pair of threes in the second quarter.
The Bravettes struggled to score against a defense that, with the 6-foot-5 Covill in the middle, was able to extend out on their shooters. After Moy hit a three early in the second quarter to cut Hellgate’s lead to 18-13, Flathead didn’t score again until Avery Chouinard’s three in the third..
Flathead has time to regroup ahead of a Friday home game against Butte. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
