The Lind-Ritzville High School was in lockdown Thursday morning after a 16-year-old boy made threats against another student, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office social media post.

School staff detained the suspect until ACSO deputies arrived at about 8:35 a.m., the post stated, and took the student into custody. The Ritzville Police Department and Washington State Patrol assisted, and the boy was released to a guardian after being briefly detained. The suspect didn’t meet criteria for juvenile detention.

The ACSO is sending harassment charges against the boy to the Adams County Juvenile Administrator and Adams County Prosecutor, the post stated.

The ACSO said the two students “had words” the day before about money in a restroom at school. The victim allegedly had a spring-assisted knife. So, the ACSO is sending a dangerous weapon possession charge against him to the Adams County Juvenile Administrator and Adams County Prosecutor, the post stated.

Both students are on emergency suspension from the school and school property, the post stated.
