Woman injured in Othello-area collision

OTHELLO — A 31-year-old woman was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland after she was injured in a collision about 15 miles west of Othello Monday morning.

Veronica Hernandez Hernandez, no address listed, was a passenger in a car driven by Israel Barrios Lopez, 21, no address listed, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol. Barrios Lopez was driving east on State Route 24 at about 6:30 a.m. Monday when the collision occurred, the press release said.

Barrios Lopez crossed into the westbound lanes, overcorrected and ran off the road, rolling multiple times before coming to rest about 20 feet off the shoulder of the eastbound lane.

Neither Barrios Lopez or a second passenger in the vehicle, Catia Mateo Hernandez, 32, no address listed, were injured. Veronica Hernandez Hernandez was not wearing a seatbelt, the press release said.

Charges of negligent driving are pending against Barrios Lopez, the release said.
