LEGION BASEBALL: Northern Lakes notches first win at Whitefish tourney

WHITEFISH, Mont. — The Northern Lakes “A” team broke a 2-all tie with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and went on to beat the Palouse Patriots AAA 7-3 on Friday at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament at Memorial Field.
Scott Pote, who went 2 for 4 and scored two runs, scored Cooper Lenz with an infield single in the sixth to put Northern Lakes up 3-2. Andrew Horn followed with a sacrifice fly, Joseph Borges drew a bases-loaded walk, and Wyatt Kitchin capped the inning with a two-run single for the Mountaineers (14-11), who are 1-1 in round-robin play.
Horn and Kitchin each finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Northern Lakes plays the Spokane Dodgers today at 7 a.m. PDT.

WHITEFISH, Mont. — Kyle Bridge had two hits and drove in four runs as the Lumbermen “AA” team beat the Loggers to improve to 2-0 at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament at Memorial Field.
Bridge, the No. 9 hitter, hit a two-run double in the second inning to put Coeur d’Alene (26-7) up 3-1.He hit an RBI single to cap a three-run third to make it 7-1, then capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Marcus Manzardo had an RBI single in the first inning for the Lums, and Eric Bumbaugh followed Bridge’s double with a two-bagger of his own to make it 4-1.
Jayden Butler struck out five and allows three hits in five innings for Coeur d’Alene, walking two and allowing one earned run.
Coeur d’Alene plays the Expos 19U today at 11 a.m. PDT
