COEUR d'ALENE — The Lake City saw its first 90-degree day in 10 months Tuesday when the thermometer hit 92.
Climatologist Cliff Harris said it last reached 90 here Sept. 7, 2021 — 300 days ago, a record string of sub-90s.
The previous mark for longest stretch between 90-degree days was 278 set in 1949 and 1959.
Harris expects many more days in the 90s, about a dozen for July and August, as it's going to be hot and dry.
That won't come close to matching last summer's 31 days over 90 in Coeur d'Alene. But after a cool and rainy spring, it's welcome, Harris said, and he is calling for plenty of rain in October.
"We'll take all the summer we can get," he said.
