Bissell Pet Foundation sponsors 'Empty the Shelters'
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 3 years, 5 months AGO
As the nation’s shelters face unprecedented overcrowding, Bissell Pet Foundation is doing its part to take homeless pets from kennels to couches by sponsoring reduced or waived adoption fees of $50 or less from July 11-31.
The longest-ever Summer National “Empty the Shelters” event will be hosted in more than 250 shelters in 42 states, including Better Together Animal Alliance in Bonner County.
As part of this event, BTAA is extending its current promotion of waived adoption fees for adult animals.
BTAA will participate through July 31 at their animal care center, 870 Kootenai Cutoff Road, Ponderay, offering waived adoption fees for adult cats and dogs.
All cats over 6 months old, and all dogs over 1 year old can go home for FREE thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation.
All interested adopters can view available animals at bettertogetheranimalalliance.org/adopt.
This is BTAA’s first time participating in BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event. The local animal welfare group hopes it will draw attention to the immediate need to find homes for the nearly 100 animals in their care.
“While our staff do a great job caring for the cats and dogs in our animal care center, the best place for them is in homes,” said Mandy Evans, executive director of BTAA. “Thanks to the generosity and support from organizations like BISSELL Pet Foundation, we can waive adoption fees to help them find homes faster, while still recouping some of the adoption fees we rely on.”
BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” event is the largest funded adoption event in the country. With the goal of encouraging more families to choose adoption, this lifesaving effort has helped more than 96,000 pets find loving homes since 2016. Empty the Shelters is BISSELL Pet Foundation’s largest program, partnering with a total of 443 animal welfare organizations in 47 states and Canada to reduce adoption fees.
