Kovalenko named new Midway Elementary principal

MOSES LAKE — Russell Kovalenko has been selected as the new principal at Midway Elementary in Moses Lake.

Before taking the Midway job, Kovalenko worked for five years as the assistant principal and academic administrator for the Washington Virtual Academy. Prior to that Kovalenko was Othello High School principal and the Othello School District safety director, according to a press release from the Moses Lake School District. Before he became an administrator Kovalenko was a business teacher in Yakima and at Wahluke High School.

“I am ecstatic about the opportunity to team up with our Midway teachers, parents and community to help build the amazing young minds at Midway Elementary,” Kovalenko wrote in the press release.
