ISP investigating fatal Cd'A crash

Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision that killed two people Wednesday afternoon in Coeur d’Alene.

The crash occurred just after noon at the corner of Government Way and Canfield Avenue when the driver of a Toyota Highlander traveling south on Government Way initiated a left turn onto Canfield and collided with a three-wheel Can-Am motorcycle traveling north on Government Way.

The 93-year-old Spirit Lake man driving the Can-Am motorcycle died at the scene, and his 63-year-old female passenger, of Hayden, died later at the hospital. Both were wearing helmets, per ISP.

The driver of the Toyota Highlander, a 76-year-old Coeur d’Alene woman; and her 95-year-old female passenger, also from Coeur d'Alene, were not injured. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Traffic at the intersection of Canfield and Government Way was slowed for about five hours.
