SHOWCASE GOLF: Whitney leads after first day at The Resort

COEUR d’ALENE — Ray Whitney, looking for his first win since 2018 at The Showcase golf exhibition at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, leads the field after Friday’s Celeb-Am.

Whitney, the former NHL and Spokane Chiefs star, shot a 5-under par 66 and leads Golf Channel host Blair O’Neal and former NFL kicker Josh Scobee, who are tied for second with a 67.

Whitney helped lead the Spokane Chiefs to the 1991 Memorial Cup championship.

Former MLB player Vince Coleman leads the net scoring with an 11-under 60, followed by former NHL player Russ Courtnall with a 61.

The Showcase, a fundraiser for the Community Cancer Fund, concludes today starting at 8 a.m. at The Resort Golf Course.

While there is no parking at the golf course, complimentary shuttle buses are available at The Coeur d'Alene Resort or Lake City High. Shuttles will begin at 7:15 a.m. today and conclude an hour after the completion of the tournament.
