Frank Bybee wants to run across the country this summer. But first, some people need to hit each other.

The Worley man has scheduled a boxing smoker for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Worley gym, 192 Mitch Michal Drive.

There will be several matches in different weight classes. Each will consist of three, one-minute rounds.

"When you're an amateur, that's a long one minute," said Bybee, a former boxer.

Tickets are $10 at the door.

Proceeds will go toward Bybee's goal to run 3,500 miles in 100 days this summer to raise awareness of substance abuse and addictions.

He completed the Coeur d'Alene Marathon on Sunday.

Bybee's book, "Worley Warrior," includes his battle with alcohol. He marked 20 years of sobriety in 2020.
