Singer-songwriter Colt Ford has sold more than 3 million albums. During his show though, he said it’s the small towns like Moses Lake that he enjoys performing at the most.
Attendees were able to get really close to the stage druing Colt Ford’s performance in McCosh Park on Sunday.

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Spring Festival saw a star-studded lineup of three country music artists whose performances were completely free to the public.
“The whole thing has been a great time,” said Paul Moore who came to Moses Lake from the Tri-Cities for the weekend to enjoy the Moses Lake Spring Festival.
Moore said this was his first time coming to the festival and he would definitely be coming back next year.
McCosh Park seemed to be the perfect venue as attendees on the grass set up blankets or chairs to watch the show and those with a little more energy stood at the front of the stage to get a close glimpse of the artists.
Singer-songwriter Chris JansenTo kicked off the weekend’s musical performances on Friday night. Despite a slight breeze, the rain held back and a colorful sunset graced the evening as Jansen played.
Jansen is the 206th member of the Grand Ole Opry, invited by Keith Urban and inducted by Garth Brooks in 2018. Jansen had McCosh Park filled to the brim with people there to see him perform and this comes as no shock since the artist has a busy summer, performing all over the U.S. every weekend until November, according to tour dates on his website. Three of Jansen’s albums total more than 150,000 U.S. sales and he just released another album at the end of April entitled “All In”.
Priscilla Block took the stage Sunday. The 26-year-old gained notoriety through TikTok. She was just getting her start in the music industry when COVID-19 hit and turned to the social media platform to share her music. In the Summer of 2020 her song “Just About Over You,” took off and she soon went to the top of the iTunes Country and All-Genre song charts.
Despite her young age, she has already notched nominations at the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards for New Female Artist of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2022 CMT Music Awards.
While it seemed she would connect with the younger crowd more easily due to her rise to fame, she had the crowd of all ages all warmed up for Colt Ford who performed just after her.
Ford finished off the weekend full of fun with about an hour-long, can-raising performance.
Over the course of his career, Ford has sold more than 3 million albums, notched five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, collaborated with some of the industry’s top artists and received a nomination in the category of “Vocal Event of the Year” at the Academy of Country Music Awards, according to his website.
During the concert, Ford told the crowd how he was happy to be there performing and how he prefers small-town concerts.
Throughout the performance, attendees danced, clapped and smiled the night away. There were people of all ages in attendance, tapping their feet, nodding their heads and singing along.

Ag issues on docket in 2023 Washington Legislature
OLYMPIA — The 2023 Washington Legislature session included bills to support agriculture. House Bill 1138, concerning drought preparedness, is one piece of that legislation. “We’ve been working on that for two to three years,” said Rep. Tom Dent, a sponsor of the bill. “So we get into a drought in different areas of the state and the drought committee comes together and puts together a plan to help people in the drought-affected area to mitigate the effects of the drought, whether it means through use of emergency wells, financial assistance, (or other measures).” HB 1138, requested by the Department of Ecology, adjusts the circumstances in which the Drought Committee is authorized to convene. The bill amends these circumstances to include when a drought advisory is in effect and when a drought emergency order is in effect.
Legislators request millions in infrastructure funding for Adams Co.

Dent proud of committee’s bipartisan effort in 2023 session
MOSES LAKE – Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, said that there is a lot he has to be proud of from this session, but the thing he was most proud of was the bipartisan effort to tackle bills by him and several other lawmakers. “I think, for me, there were a lot of wins,” said Dent. “The kind of wins that you don’t see.”
