COEUR d’ALENE — The Community Library Network is launching its 2022 summer reading program. With the theme of “Oceans of Possibilities,” readers of all ages will get a chance to sail the seven seas in their imaginations this summer. The Community Library Network includes locations across North Idaho: Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, Athol, Spirit Lake, Pinehurst, Harrison and a bookmobile.

Karen Yother, Youth Services coordinator for the network invites kids to join the fun this summer.

“Giant bubbles, pirates, mermaids and yes, even doughnuts, await you this summer at the library,” Yother said in a recent press release.

For extra incentive, if aspiring readers sign up by June 15, they will have a chance to win a family pass to the DreamWorks Animation exhibit at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane. Sign up at your local library starting today.

The 13-week program runs through Aug. 31, and offers numerous activities and in-person entertainment. Reading challenges available for all ages help prevent summer learning loss. Visit your local library branch or communitylibrary.net/summer-reading-2022 for summer reading guides.

Kids from 0 to 18 can earn prizes for reading and completing activities at library events all summer. The challenge requires children and teens to read 15 days per month to win prizes. Grand prizes include: family pass to the North Idaho State Fair, Silver Mountain Water Park, Big Red’s Barn, Triple Play and more. As kids complete and log activities each month, they will be entered into the grand prize drawings. Monthly prizes for reaching the 15-day reading goal include: books, stuffed animals, gift cards and candy.

“Summer is the perfect time to explore new places, try new activities, and find your next favorite book,” Yother said. “And we cannot wait to see you this summer at the library.”
