June 2, 1972 – WINS 100 GALLONS GAS
During its recent grand opening, A & W Drive In and Discount Gas staff members wrote license numbers on order slips and selected one for a door prize. License 7B-3252 belonged to Robert Bonser of Laclede, who was given credit for 100 gallons of gas.

MOSCOW IS HOME FOR NEWLYWEDS
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Vance Larson (Maria Spence Finlay) are residing in Moscow, Idaho, following their May 23 wedding in St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint. They are both seniors at the U of I. The reception was in the Pastime Cafe’s Panhandle Room.

ELEX VAVRICKS WED IN CATHOLIC CHURCH
Gladioli and daisies decorated St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Sandpoint, for the May 6 wedding of Retha Kay Bowman, Spokane, and Elex Vavrick, Sandpoint. Retha is the daughter of Robert Bowman, Harlowton, Mont. Elex is the son of Oscar Vavrick of Sagle.

MARINA OPEN HOUSE SATURDAY
Sandpoint Marina will have an open house Saturday, so the public can see what partners Leo Hadley and Ted Farmin have done to enlarge and improve the facility. The Marina is officially located on East Lake St., but nearly everyone knows the popular business is behind the court house parking lot. Originally built to house a steam generating plant for Mountain States Power Co., it has an abundance of space and is one of the most rugged structures in the community.

June 2, 1922 – MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVED
Local patriotic bodies and veterans organizations cooperated in the local observance of Memorial day in the usual style, the program being in charge of the Women’s Relief Corps. Others taking part were the few remaining G.A.R. veterans, the Spanish American war veterans, the American Legion, the War Mothers and the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion. Of the six remaining G.A.R. members, but four took part in the parade: L.D. Farmin, Robert Rennie of Lakeview, D.D. Searles and F.E. Catlin. After the parade to the cemetery and ceremonies there, a similar service was held from the Cedar street bridge, in commemoration of those who had perished at sea.

LARGE NUMBER COMPLETE GRADE SCHOOL
Graduation exercises for the eighth grade students of the various schools in district No. 1 were held at the Farmin school Friday. The graduates from the grades numbered 77, divided by schools as follows: Jefferson school, 35; Lincoln school, 34; Great Northern school, 3; Bronx and Coolin schools, 2 each, and Ponderay school, 1. The program was as follows: “Pilgrims’ chorus,” Lincoln school; Reading, “All for Dear Old Yale,” Van Costello, Jefferson school; song, Lincoln; class prophecy, Fred Schedler, Jefferson; piano selection, Leland Black, Jefferson; class prophecy, Robert Leslie, Lincoln; piano solo, Vergie Smith, Lincoln; diploma presentations, Supt. Breckinridge; welcome to high school, Principal M.B. Dunkle.
