BONNERS FERRY — This Memorial Day was the perfect day for a parade as summer had just begun to show itself.
Community members said the parade was a wonderful time to honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to their country.
Downtown streets were packed with children with bags in hand, ready and poised to collect as much candy as possible from those touring the parade route. Those on the parade route were happy to oblige.
Area veterans gleefully tossed candy and received waves and calls of thanks from the crowd. The thanks were for more than the candy being received, but for the sacrifices the veterans had made for those in attendance.
It was a great turnout for the Monday, May 30, Memorial Day Parade in downtown Bonners Ferry.
