In memory of Evelyn Marguerite Nelson
Evelyn Marguerite Nelson passed away on June 1 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 74 years old.
Evelyn was born in Newport, R.I. She attended St. Catherine’s Academy and Newport Hospital School of Nursing. She married Dean Nelson in 1969, while he was stationed in Newport in the Navy. They moved to San Diego, Calif., and then to Fargo, N.D., and Glendive, Mont., where she worked in the local hospitals. With their two young daughters they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1979. Evelyn worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, 23 of those at Kootenai Medical Center. She was a dedicated Girl Scout troop leader for many years and a devoted wife and mother. Dean and Evelyn were married for 53 years at the time of her passing.
Evelyn enjoyed reading, swimming, listening to music and traveling. She did several Elderhostel trips and cruises, as well as travel to Norway with her daughters in 2018. She enjoyed getaways involving singing, yoga and other wellness adventures.
She will be forever loved and remembered for her kindness and caring disposition.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Evelyn. She is survived by her husband, Dean, her two daughters, Seana and Eme, her grandson, Nathan, her sister, Diane and her four nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Diana, Christopher and Shawn.
No services will be held. Evelyn’s ashes will be scattered by her family in Newport, R.I.
