Coeur d'Alene received a record 1.14 inches of rain through 4 p.m. Monday, breaking a long-standing June 13 record of .94 inches set in 1980.

Including the .27 inches of rain that fell Sunday, that's 1.41 over two days.

"We're sopping wet," said Climatologist Cliff Harris on Monday.

And cold, too.

The high Monday was 47 degrees, breaking the previous low-maximum of 48 degrees for June 13 set in 1951.

It was also a dramatic drop from 68 degrees on Sunday.

Harris said it has rained 4.3 inches in June, well up from the normal rainfall of 1.93 for the month, and well ahead of the pace of the record of 5.84 inches of rain in June 2012

For the year, Coeur d'Alene has received 19.68 inches of rain. Normal for this time is 12.89. At this rate, the annual rainfall record of 43.87 inches set in 2012 is in danger.

"We're really racking it up," Harris said.

He said there are reports of lowland flooding, with impassable driveways, overflowing street drains and flooded basements.

Harris said there have only been seven days this year over 70 degrees, and none over 80.

He is calling for more showers this week, back into the 70s by Thursday, but more rain over Father's Day weekend.

"No 80-degree day in sight yet," he said.

While the rain dampens activities, it reduces fire danger and is good for the huckleberries, Harris said.

"I feel we're very fortunate to have all this moisture," he said.
