SANDPOINT — The man implicated in the June 3 burglary of the Hoodoo Creek Cafe and Market has been arrested and is now in custody.

Brandon Joseph Buck, 33, was arrested Monday in connection to the burglary. Court documents do not specify where Buck was arrested.

Buck was implicated in the robbery by another participant, Joanna Ruth Holderman, 26, after she was arrested by Bonner County sheriff’s deputies the day after the burglary.

Both are being charged with counts of grand theft and burglary.

Security camera footage captured the two wearing full face masks and dark clothing when they approached the cafe in the early morning hours of June 3. The male, who is presumed to be Buck, was captured on security footage cutting the communication line outside of the building shortly before cameras stopped recording.

The next morning, the store owner reported the burglary to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to a cash register containing $229 in cash, $1,266 of tobacco products were reported stolen from the business.

The store owner and a friend walked around the property; finding an open gate that was usually closed. The two walked along the road beyond the gate and found a silver GMC Yukon stuck in a ditch. It appeared to the two that the stolen items were within the vehicle, according to court records

The store owner called dispatch again, reporting he was talking with two individuals who admitted to stealing the items.

Bonner County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Glock heard yelling when arrived at the scene. Upon getting closer, the male, who was still wearing a facemask and holding a machete, began running up a hill away from the deputy.

Glock commanded the male stop running, but he did not. Because he had a machete, the deputy decided to not attempt to apprehend him, court records indicate.

Efforts to locate the male with K9 and drone units as well as issuing Nixle alerts were unsuccessful.

Buck made his initial appearance in court on Tuesday First District Magistrate Court. He is currently being held on $50,000. He is scheduled to appear for preliminary hearing on June 22. According to the Idaho court database, Buck has 19 previous criminal cases, all except one out of Bonner County.
