Melcher appointed to Charter Commission

OLYMPIA – House Minority Leader J. T. Wilcox, R-Pierce County, recently appointed Vickey Melcher to a 4-year term on the Washington State Charter School Commission.
Melcher previously served on the Moses Lake School District’s Board of Directors. She holds a bachelor's degree in special education and a master's in counseling psychology. She has also served in directing MLSD’s special education department and spent several years as a classroom instructor, according to a press release from the Commission. She is a lifelong resident of Eastern Washington and a graduate of Odessa High School.
The Commission is an independent state agency that was formed with the mission of creating a rigorous and comprehensive proposal process for qualified non-profits who wish to open a charter public school. It is comprised of a seven-person staff, including an Executive Director, which focuses on the implementation of each charter public school’s authorized contract.

Four Basin students honored at EOU
LA GRANDE, Ore. — Four Basin students were among 635 named to the Eastern Oregon University Dean’s List for the 2025 winter term, according to an announcement from the university. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the term. Water gun brings police to Coeur d’Alene High School
