I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. I enjoy writing for the paper that my great-grandfather read and covering the same small town community that is still alive today. I cover all things Badger sports, local politics and government, community news, business, outdoors and appear on the 7Bee podcast for the Herald's update. When I'm not working I can be found reading a good book and sipping tea, knitting or attempting to sign opera. | June 30, 2022 1:00 AM
NAPLES — The Naples Gallery is back.
The gallery, which closed its doors in 2009, is reopening after a 13-year hiatus in response to requests from local artists and interested art collectors, as “the” place to showcase the abundance of talent right here in Boundary County, on Friday July 1, the Naples Gallery is reopening, officials said in a press release.
Located at 495433 U.S. 95 — directly east of the highway — the Naples Gallery sign will guide drivers left into the driveway.
Regular hours following the reopening will be Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Suzanne Lublin is proprietor and curator of the gallery, which originally opened its doors on Dec. 16, 2001. Lublin’s vision is to support community arts, awareness and education. Besides providing exhibition space for artists, the gallery will host workshops in all mediums, she said.
Lublin said she is eager to share a huge range of creative talents in North Idaho, from visual arts in the gallery to performing arts on her property. So much ability in the area means this lovely location will provide a perfect backdrop.
Naples Gallery will continue its yearly “Annual Art Faire of Boundary County,” which features many of the community’s musicians, culinary arts experts and visual artists. The three-day event will begin again in August.
The opening will celebrate Boundary County Art Association, which was founded by three renowned community artists — Jean Mace, Dorothy Smith and Katherine Haines. Their pieces will be shown in their honor and on behalf of their families and as such, are not for sale.
To date, the artist lineup for the opening will include:
• Debbie Aaron (acrylics, watercolors and reclaimed yard art)
• Betty Billups (internationally known Pleine Air artist in all mediums)
• Vicki Bliele (wildlife acrylics)
• Jackie Delclos (all mediums)
• Susan Falck (mixed media)
• Maxine Marcy (pottery)
• Diana Stover (primary medium is pastels)
• Darrelyn Rose (acrylics and watercolor)
• Linda Lorraine Wolfe (botanical watercolors)
In October, when she returns from Oklahoma, Diana Moses Botkin will rejoin the gallery as well.
Artists interested in showing can call Suzanne at 208-716-9741 for information.
