WALLACE — Get ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good time as the Sixth Street Melodrama and Theater presents its spring production "The Yee Haw Hootenanny Hoedown."

Written and directed by theater veteran Terri Robinson, the "The Yee Haw Hootenanny Hoedown" takes a page from the variety shows of the wild west and then adds a personal touch of local humor and slapstick showmanship.

Based on the hit television series “Hee Haw,” each skit and song has a personal connection with the performers and audience members alike, who are encouraged to sing along to the tunes that they are familiar with — including classics from Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Marty Robbins and John Denver.

This show features an incredibly talented cast that really shows just how deep the familial bonds of the Sixth Street Theater run.

Joining Robinson in the production is her son Brady Bourgard, daughter-in-law Lauren Bourgard (married to Brady’s brother Eli), and her daughter-in-law’s father, Scott Peterson.

Rounding out the all-star cast of Sixth Street veterans are Carl Rowe, Gwyneth Faye, Anita Price, Harley Duce and Ed Warren, as well as Tamara Lindroos as the accompanist.

For Robinson, directing this show has been a labor of love, as she’s poured every ounce of nostalgia and memory she could into a fun performance that will have people laughing, singing and reminiscing.

“Everyone loves westerns because they are simple and charming and we get the humor,” Robinson said. “I love gathering together talent and when talented people work together they become inspired to be even better. This show is a lot of fun.”

While there are several standout performances throughout the show, Warren’s rendition of Marty Robbins’ “Big Iron” with the accompanying performances from Brady and Lauren Bourgard will have you laughing and cheering as Kornfield Kountry makes a grand comeback in 2022.

Curtains open on this musical variety show on Friday, March 4.

The show will run for the next three weekends through March 20, with showtimes on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and then on Sunday at 2 p.m.
