ANNIVERSARY

Ray and Louise Oliver

71st Anniversary

Ray and Louise were married on March 2, 1951, in the Sandia Base Chapel in Albuquerque, N.M. Shortly thereafter, Ray was transferred to Air Farce bases in England, where they spent the next three years. Their daughter, Kathleen was born while in England.

The Oliver's returned to Albuquerque in 1954, where Ray attended the University of New Mexico. Ray was then employed by Sandia Corporation at Sandia Base. Their two sons, Mikel and Bryan were born in Albuquerque.

In 1965, they moved to Tonopah, Nev., where Ray worked for the Atomic Test Range. In 1966, they purchased and moved to a livestock and timber ranch in Cougar Gulch, 10 miles southwest of Coeur d'Alene. Also, in 1966, Ray worked as Transmitter Supervisor at KSPS-TV in Spokane until 1982. He worked as the Worley Highway District road commissioner, then became Executive Director of the Idaho Association of Highway Districts until he retired in 1997.

While living in Cougar Gulch, they were very active in the community center. In 2005, Ray and Louise sold the property and had a house built in Coeur d'Alene. During the last few years there, they enjoyed going to the local senior centers and the Post Falls American Legion for activities and meals. Louise belonged to the Post Falls Red Hat Flappers and the Silver Lake Red Hatters. They were involved with the Kootenai Amateur Radio Society Coffee Clan. Ray still signs in with his Ham radio nightly.

In 2021, they moved into an independent living senior facility in Coeur d'Alene. It's been like living in an apartment when they were first married. They enjoy eating meals in the big dining room, like a restaurant. They also enjoy activities like bingo, music, singing and meeting new friends. They have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

They have always loved the beauty of and living in North Idaho. They are thankful to be celebrating 71 years of marriage together and still be in good health. They are looking forward to many years to come one day at a time.
