HIGH RISE: Low blow to Cd’A

The 18-story, 60-condo “Thomas George” that was given the “green light” is but one more property in our beloved downtown Coeur d’Alene for the well off, non-resident, part-time visitor.
These will be second homes for most, so I find it sad that Jon Ingalls said a project that has more people living and working downtown “makes a level of success and vibrancy.”
Who do you think is going to live there? They certainly are NOT going to be your server, your housekeeper, shop owner/worker, local resident! Take your blinders off and close your wallet! Our beloved downtown has been taken over by money, tourists, developers, part-time residents.
One thing YOU can do right NOW is to put a moratorium on the permits you give out for ADUs (additional dwelling units) and vacation rentals. Our neighborhoods are gone for locals; they are overrun with tourists renting homes, ADUs, apartments, condos that could be for families “living and working downtown.” You need to STOP and get a handle on it, or it will be too late!
Note: We have a studio vacation rental, BUT we LIVE in the home year-round, and work and play downtown.
