A few new and familiar names joined the list Friday of candidates seeking Kootenai County political offices.
It was a busy day in the Kootenai County Elections Office. Candidate filings finally hit the web after 7 p.m.
“Our team did amazing for as many filings,” Kootenai County Chief Deputy Clerk Jennifer Locke said. "I'm really proud of our team over there."
Kootenai County offices up for election are: assessor, clerk, coroner, treasurer, precinct committeeman and commissioner in District 2 (four-year term) and District 3 (two-year term).
Only one Democrat, former legislative candidate Ruben Miranda, is seeking one of the paid county offices.
By press time Friday, the following candidates had filed, ensuring their names will be on May 17 ballots:
Assessor:
Bob Scott (R)
Béla Kovacs (R)
Clerk:
Jennifer Locke (R)
Mike Bauer (R)
Commissioner District 2:
Bruce Mattare (R)
Chris Fillios (R)
Commissioner District 3:

Ruben R. Miranda (D)
Coroner:
