Man injured in Wednesday collision

Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision that occurred at 1:24 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 95 at Schweitzer Cutoff Road.

The driver of a black Dodge Ram pickup was traveling southbound on the highway and failed to stop at a red stop light. The pickup struck a male riding a motorized scooter that was traveling westbound on Schweitzer Cutoff Road, crossing US95.

The Dodge Ram was occupied by a 23-year-old male driver from Sandpoint. He was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The scooter was ridden by a 19-year-old male from Sandpoint, ID. He was not wearing a helmet and was transported by ground ambulance.

The southbound lane of U.S. 95 was blocked for approximately 2 hours.

The crash is still under investigation.
