Venerable Thubten Chodron, an American nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, will present “Compassion + Technology” at 6:30 p.m. April 5.

The event will be presented virtually.

Chodron will speak about how people can bring compassion to bear when engaging with technology so it serves humanity, and not the other way around.

Ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun in 1977, Chodron is an author, teacher and the founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey in Newport, Wash. Sravasti Abbey is one of the first Tibetan Buddhist training monasteries for Westerners in the U.S., and holds gender equality, social engagement and care for the environment among its core values.

Chodron teaches worldwide and is known for her practical and humorous explanations of how to apply Buddhist teachings in daily life. She's also involved in prison outreach and interfaith dialogue.

Chodron has published many books on Buddhist philosophy and meditation. She's assisting His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the writing and publication of "The Library of Wisdom and Compassion," a multi-volume series of teachings on the Buddhist path.

Visit ThubtenChodron.org for a media library of her teachings, and SravastiAbbey.org to learn more about the abbey.

The virtual event, hosted by North Idaho College, is free. It will be presented via Zoom at nic.zoom.us/j/83755363207.
