John Steven Wood, “Woody” of Rathdrum, passed away on Tuesday, March 15. Born in Emmet, Idaho, on Nov. 7, 1948, Steve was a good man, a kind man, and devoted to his family, friends and church. He was one of those old-fashioned men that opened doors for women and took on raising four children that were not his own. He always had a smile on his face and a helpful hand when needed.

He loved to fish, hunt, and tinker. He had an infectious laugh and was good-looking as all get out, once even winning a Tom Selleck look-alike contest! He graduated from Emmett High School in 1967, and in 1970, served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Steve worked for 20 years for the Dept. of Defense at the David Taylor Research Center in Bayview, Idaho.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jeane (Plastino), daughters Samantha (Chad) Oswald, Mackenzie (Justin) Knoles, Kim Anderson, and son Joel Anderson. Grandchildren Jasper Oswald; Arthur & Marina Knoles; Selina, Blaine and Cole Rutherford; Bailey and Gavin Anderson; great-grandson Braxton; numerous nieces and nephews.
