Leatrice “Sue” Norma Bunn, 93
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 10 months AGO
Sue was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Potlatch, Idaho, to Lee Ditton and Mabel Backlund Ditton. Sue passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2022, with family by her side.
Sue spent her childhood in Potlatch with many relatives nearby. She loved visiting Potlatch to relive her wonderful childhood years.
She met her husband, Stanley Bunn, in 1949 in Longview, Wash. Stan and Sue both worked for Bell Telephone in Longview but were not acquainted. Stan’s mom was doing seamstress work for Sue and insisted on introducing Sue to Stan. The introduction must have gone well as they were married that same year.
They welcomed their son, David Bunn, in 1950. Two years later, their first daughter, Priscilla Sue joined the family. Their youngest child, Holly, was born on Sue’s birthday in 1957. Their family lived in Longview, Wash., and Chula Vista, Calif., before moving to a 560-acre farm in the Cougar Gulch area of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1963. Sue and her young family loved all that the mountain top farm offered and treasured the memories of family life on the farm.
In 1975, Sue and Stan moved to Alaska and spent ten wonderful years enjoying the outdoors and fishing. They bought an acre of land on Willow Creek and built a nice cabin on the banks of the river. Willow Creek was known for abundant salmon, and they enjoyed fishing nearly every day.
In December 1985, they moved back to their farm in Cougar Gulch to be near their children and grandchildren. Sue enjoyed spending time with family at their Cougar Gulch cabin, combing garage sales for antiques and volunteering at the Kootenai Humane Society Thrift Store.
Shortly after their 64th anniversary, Sue lost Stan. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister (Sally) and son (David). She is survived by daughters Priscilla and Holly and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to the Kootenai Humane Society. A service celebrating Sue’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Yates Funeral Home.
