COEUR d’ALENE — Two people died over the weekend in an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded late Sunday night to the residence of Heather M. MacDonald, 45, and Kevin S. MacDonald, 48.

Family members had requested a welfare check around 10 p.m., saying they’d been unable to contact the couple.

As they checked the exterior of the residence, deputies reportedly saw a man and woman who appeared to be unconscious in the living room.

Police entered the home and found the pair dead.

KCSO said an initial investigation indicated they died in a murder-suicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
