Kim Johnston, 74

Kim grew up on a large ranch near the small town of Stanley, Idaho. His education began in a one-room school house. When he was 14 his father took him to see the Blue Angels. This fueled his passion for flying. After high school graduation, Kim joined the Navy and never looked back. He graduated in 2 1/2 years with majors in chemistry and math. Immediately after graduation he was off to Vietnam as a Navy Fighter Pilot.

Kim was called back to the military several times during his lifetime. After 9/11 he was loaned to the Air Force to train and fly F15’s, protecting our skies. He ended his military career as a Navy captain. Kim also successfully maintained his own businesses in logging and construction.

Another passion of Kim’s was skiing. He raced extensively when young. Later he became a ski patroller serving on Pro Patrol, National Ski Patrol, and working as a Heli-Ski Guide. Kim loved meeting new people and daily sought out skiers new to the area and gave them an extensive tour of the mountain,

Kim was one of a kind. He was the most friendly, outgoing person who was ready to help anyone, anywhere, anytime. Kim remained active even during 25 years of battling cancer. He loved the outdoors and will be soon soaring high into his next adventure. We love you and miss you already,
