Outing serves up double dose of excitement

On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone’s Irish and during basketball season, especially during March Madness, it seems everyone in the Inland Northwest is a Gonzaga fan.
Joe and Judy Clark of Rathdrum are no exception. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month and according to their son, Joe, the celebration continues.
On Friday, the day after the Zags beat Georgia State in the opening round to advance, son Joe and his wife, Karen, took the folks to Spokane for lunch at the mecca of Zagdom, Jack and Dan’s.
Judy Clark has also long been a fan of TV meteorologist and celebrity weatherman Tim Adams, so her son surprised her by inviting Tim to join them for lunch. As if Judy wasn’t having enough fun meeting and visiting with Tim, in walks the legendary former Zag and NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton with family members. The Stocktons sat down at the table next to theirs and the visiting and excitement expanded.
That would be a tough act to follow, but after lunch the Clarks visited Gonzaga’s store to stock up on Zag swag. It’s a safe bet the elder Clarks will be glued to the television set on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. when the Zags play Arkansas for the chance to advance to the Elite 8 in the tournament.

An interesting side note on Joe and Judy’s son Joe Clark ... he’s managed marinas for 27 years, from here to the British and U.S. Virgin Islands and most recently Maine. Joe and Karen moved home from Maine a year ago to be closer to parents, kids, grandkids and friends. He’s the new general manager of the Hayden Lake Marina and Boathouse store and restaurant, which is gearing up for boating season.

Paula Phelps had a very good night on Monday during Classic Scratch League play, rolling a perfect 300 game. It was the first-ever sanctioned 300 by a woman at River City Lanes. Kudos!
