Badger baseball busy on the road, 1-5 in non league play

BONNERS FERRY— The Badgers fell to Colville 11-0 after going 1-1 in a doubleheader against Grangeville last weekend. The Badgers are 1-5 in non-league play.

Colville had quite the first inning, scoring 10 runs on the Badgers. The Badgers kept the Crimson Hawks from scoring until the fourth inning put Bonners Ferry into an 11-0 deficit.

The Badgers play at home against St. Maries at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday March 26.

LEWISTON — Badgers lost the lead in the fifth inning against Grangeville. Badger claimed the second game in the seventh inning, winning 15-13.

First game; Grangeville 9 Bonners Ferry 7

The Badgers led 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Bulldogs hit a homer with a 0-2 count, scoring three runs. The Badgers collected nine hits to Grangville’s 11.

In the first inning, the Badgers scored a run with Trey Bateman hitting a double. In the second inning the Badgers added a three run rally led by Bo Bateman and Teigan Banning.

Bo Bateman went four for four at the plate and led the Badgers in hits.

Second game; Bonners Ferry 15, Grangeville 13

In the second game, the Badgers went on to defeat the Bulldogs in the seventh inning, 15-13.

The Badgers scored three runs in the first inning when Teigan Banning drove in two when he singled.

At the top of the seventh the game was tied 13 all. Blake Rice made a single, scoring two runs.

In the third inning Grangeville had nine runs, but the Badgers stayed consistent and worked their way back to the lead in the fifth inning with six more runs.

Trey Bateman, Porter Schulte, David Hammons and Elijah Dahl drove in runs in the fifth inning.

Roger Naylor pitched for the Badgers allowed one hit and zero runs and zero walks over one inning. Dahl three and two-thirds in relief out of the ball pin.

Banning was the starting pitcher for the Badgers. He went two and a third innings, allowing nine runs on three hits and struck out five batters.
