Ernest A. Sutton, 90 of the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area died on March 15, 2022, in Spokane, Wash. He was born on March 15, 1932, in Quanah, Texas, to John and Vatice (Sewell) Sutton.
He moved to Delano, Calif., in 1941 and graduated from Delano High School. On Feb. 6, 1954, he married Carolyn June White, the love of his life and together they lived in Visalia, Calif., for 42 years, where he worked for Western Electric and AT&T for 35 years.
Ernest and Carolyn spent summers in Coeur d’Alene for five years before moving here in 1999.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Visalia, he belonged to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was in the U.S. Navy Sea Bee’s during the Korean War.
Ernest enjoyed being with family and friends, flying, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, and traveling.
He is survived by his son, Dan Sutton of Palm Springs, Calif.; daughter, Janet Dufur of Post Falls, Idaho; brother, Tom Sutton of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; grandchildren: Brent Dufur, Marissa Boyd, and Kyle Dufur; great-grandchildren: Alyssa Dufur, Madalyn Hartwig, Grant, Cash, and Jocelyn Boyd, and Harper Dufur.
Ernest will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
