Early voting has begun in Kootenai County.
Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon reported 6,198 absentee ballots had been requested as of 4 p.m. Monday and 1,442 have been received by the elections office.
"Counting myself, there were 108 early voters today," Brannon said Monday.
He said he expects more absentees and early voters will come in as Election Day, May 17, draws near. Early voting ends Friday, May 13.
"People want to vote at the polls, and there are people who like to vote early, but I think they’re going to wait a little longer to see how things shake out," Brannon said. "I would assume we’re going to get more toward the end of the period."
