SHS golf remains competitive as districts inches closer

The Sandpoint girls golf team finished second at the Sandpoint Invitational at the Idaho Club with a score of 410 on Monday.
“They did great,” Sandpoint golf coach Mike Deprez said. “The girls are trending in the right direction and will compete at districts.”
Alexa Tuinstra led the team with a score of 94.
“Getting that score at this golf course is no easy feat,” Deprez said. “She was really optimistic with her score.”
Taylor Mire and Audrey Sheffler both shot in the 90s, scoring 99 and 95, respectively.
The boys team finished in fifth place with a score of 355.
Jacob Gove led the team with a score of 81. Jake Samuels had an 89, and Arie Vandenberg shot an 88.
“It’s great to see (Arie) get better and better,” Deprez said. “There’s noting golfers hate more than getting outperformed by a football player.”
Sandpoint will next be at the Lakeland Invitational on Friday.
