The Sandpoint tennis team remained perfect in 4A Inland Empire League play with an 8-4 victory over Moscow.

The girls on the Bulldogs tennis remained perfect with a 4-1 victory over the Bears.

Sandpoint swept at girls singles, starting with a 6-0, 6-0 win from number one singles player Neva Reseska.

“Winning 6-0, 6-0 at number one is impressive,” Sandpoint tennis coach Kent Anderson said. “She was hitting hard and just refused to miss.”

At girls number two singles, it was a clash between two different styles, with Maise Brazill facing off against Moscow’s Aneesha Shrestha.

The first set lasted 20 minutes with Brazill crowned the winner. She also won the match 6-1, 6-1.

“After the first set, she started to become more offensive,” Anderson said. “She started working angles and showed she could win in long strenuous matches.”

Kent Anderson labeled Adrian Doty’s 6-3, 6-0 victory over Tarryn Hemming her best match of the year.

“She really attacked with speed and quickness,” Anderson said. “She was just out there ripping balls.”

As for the boys, Jacob Dawson stepped in and played singles for the first time this season, coming away with the 6-1, 6-0 win over Moscow’s Collin Wessels.

“Watching him play is like watching old school tennis from the 1970s,” Anderson said. “He just attacks the net and leaves his opponents wondering what just happened.”

The Sandpoint tennis team will wrap up its season against Lakeland on Wednesday.

Anderson will also have to submit his final districts lineup by Wednesday.

“I already have so much on my plate,” Anderson said. “I’m freaked out.”
