NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals sweep Spokane, notch 10th straight win

SPOKANE — Aleksya Batoon hit a two-run home run in the first inning, then hit a solo hot in the fourth inning for North Idaho College in a 14-8 win over the Community Colleges of Spokane in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Whitworth University on Friday.

NIC won the second game 9-6, its 10th straight victory.

Addison Riobordy had two hits, two runs scored and four RBIs and Taryn Vanderwiel three RBIs in the opener for NIC.

In the nightcap, Ribordy doubled to score Taya Escalante to give NIC a 3-1 lead in the third inning, then followed with a two-run double to score Escalante and Kahlea Dumas to give the Cardinals a 9-2 lead in the fourth inning.

Hattie Imbler-Bremner hit a three-run home run in the third inning for NIC (24-12, 19-5 NWAC), which faces Walla Walla on Sunday in a doubleheader at Whitworth University at 2 p.m.

NIC is second in the East Region. Walla Walla (34-2, 24-0) has won 24 straight games.

Spokane is 11-16, 12-14.
