SANDPOINT — Commissioners allocated $23,987 in county money for paving and gasoline costs for two different county departments. In addition, the board appointed a new member of the Zoning Commission following a commissioner’s April resignation.

The first item of business commissioners attended to approved the consent agenda containing five minor land divisions, a liquor license, and the minutes from last week’s meeting.

In the meeting's main agenda, Justice Services gained the commission’s approval in spending $15,987 to pave a portion of the north side parking lot to prevent potential damage to vehicles navigating the lot.

The Road & Bridge department was given permission to enter into a contract with BNSF to take on ownership and maintenance of frontage roads on each side of U.S. 95 around the Granite Hill construction project. The Idaho Transportation Department and BNSF are both parties in this agreement. The roads travel through BNSF property, however, the roads are county owned and maintained. The commissioners approved the agreement.

The Sheriff’s Office Marine Division got approval to transfer $18,000 from last year's budget to be spent on gasoline for the upcoming boating season.

Human Resources gained the commission’s approval in advertising for open employment opportunities in the county. To view a full list of open county positions, visit the human resources webpage on the county website at BonnerCountyID.gov/departments/HR/current-openings.

The final item in the commission’s brief 23-minute-long meeting came from the Planning Department. Commissioner’s approved appointing Kristina Kingsland to serve on the county’s Zoning Commission. The seat was vacated in April, however, Kingsland submitted a letter of interest for the position when the commission was created a few weeks ago.

After Kingsland’s appointment, Commissioner Chair Dan McDonald recessed the meeting before reconvening shortly after for executive session. Covered during the session were two items brought by the Human Resources department, one regarding hiring in Risk Management, and another regarding confidential records.
