MOSES LAKE — Administrators of the federal Job Corps program have announced a recruitment drive, soliciting young people to fill open positions at Job Corps locations in Washington, including Moses Lake.

The program has openings at the Columbia Basin center in Moses Lake as well as the Cascades center in Sedro-Woolley, the Curlew center and Fort Simcoe in White Swan.

Job Corps offers free, hands-on career skills and job training to qualifying youth between 16 and 24 years of age. Students can apply and enroll at any time.

Students are provided with on-campus housing, meals and health care, as well as job search assistance, according to a Job Corps press release. Training is available in careers ranging from culinary to construction to advanced manufacturing, automotive and machine repair to information technology, among other options.

Applicants may be eligible for Job Corps if they qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, food or housing assistance, or if the applicant is homeless or is a foster youth.

People who want more information, or to find out if they qualify, can visit the Job Corps website, www.jobcorps.gov, or call 800-733-5627.
