Regent Susan Snodderley of the Daughters of the American Revolution Lt. George Farragut Chapter provided awards that were presented to two JROTC students at Kellogg High School on May 19.

Cadet 2 Lt. Gracie Miller received the ROTC bronze medal and a $100 award.

“The student chosen for this award must not only show academic achievement, but military achievement as well,” Snodderley said.

Students must be in the upper 25% of their classes in both ROTC and academic subjects. The bronze medal is awarded to either a high school junior or senior.

Cadet PFC Isabella Hodgman-Richter received the DAR Youth Citizenship medal. The program is open to students in fifth through 11th grades.

"This medal is presented to a student who exemplifies the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism,” Snodderley said.

The DAR is an organization of women who value patriotism, history and education while honoring the patriots of the Revolutionary War.

The Lt. George Farragut Chapter was organized in 1965 and has since grown into a chapter of more than 140 members from diverse backgrounds.
