Whitefish heading to divisional tournament after closing out regular season

The Lady Bulldog volleyball team ended the regular season last week with a loss to Polson, but now look ahead to competing in the Western A Divisional Tournament in Helena this week.

Against Polson on Tuesday, Oct. 25, Whitefish lost in three sets, 26-24, 25-23, 25-13. Polson is the No.1 seed out of the Northwest A conference and Whitefish is No. 3.

In the match, Whitefish’s Brooke Zetooney continued strong play at the net with six kills and three blocks while also grabbing one ace, one assist and six digs. Bulldogs Ainsley Scott and Kaydence Blackwell split assists again recording eight and nine respectively. Myli Ridgeway and Hailey Ells also racked up six kills. Ridgeway led the team in digs with nine. Lauren Ramsey had two aces.

Polson’s Hannah Simpson had 14 kills in the match and Clara Todd had three blocks for the Lady Pirates.

“Whitefish lost in three on the final conference match this season,” Bulldog coach Addy Connelly said. “We celebrated our lone senior Lauren Ramsey and move our focus onto divisionals (this) week.”

East Helena is hosting the Western A Divisional Volleyball Tournament this year on Nov. 3-5, Thursday through Saturday. Whitefish is slated to open tournament play with a match against Dillon on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Whitefish has a 6-5 record overall, excluding tournament matches, and the Northwest A No. 3 seed; Dillon is 10-4 overall and No. 2 seed out of the Southwest A.
