KELLOGG — Get in the holiday spirit, and support your local library as the Friends of the Kellogg Library are holding its annual holiday basket raffle to assist the Kellogg Public Library.
This year the friends are raffling off two themed baskets; Holiday gnomes and snowmen.
“The gnome basket includes a gorgeous quilt crafted by Debbie Gibler,” said a library friend, Christy Woolum. “This basket includes all kinds of gnome and winter gifts. The second basket has snowman gifts galore, along with a comfy 60-by-80 snowman throw.”
The Friends of the library is a nonprofit, charitable organization formed in 2020 by Mary Cobb, Dawn McLees, Janet Lake and Debbie Gibler to raise financial support for the library’s multiple programs and services. In addition, the friends focus on extending the library’s capacity and ability to provide services through volunteer, program support and advocacy.
The Friends’ mission is to support and advocate for the Kellogg Public and promote reading, literacy and lifelong learning in the community.
Most recently, the Kellogg library was a small yet significant upgrade thanks to Friends who purchased a new table for the children’s section at the library.
Library Director Danni Boylan is overjoyed with the upgrade.
“We would like to express heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the Friends of the Kellogg Library. Their passion for reading and books is reflected in their continual support for children’s literacy programs," Boylan said. "Their hard work and dedication have brought in new furniture in the children’s section; the addition of the new table has created an inviting space that inspires curiosity and creativity. Children have expressed excitement and joy for the recent upgrade and are looking forward to use the new space.”
The Kellogg library provides many community services, including drug and alcohol addiction services, internet access, a historical Bunker Hill Photograph Collection, tax forms, and a growing collection of books, DVDs and audiobooks.
“The members of the Friends of the Library will also be at various craft fairs in the next few weeks selling tickets for both baskets,” Woolum said.
The drawing for the two baskets will be held on Dec. 15.
Holiday library raffle tickets are one for a dollar, and six for $5, and you can purchase tickets at the Kellogg Public Library at 16 W. Market Ave., Kellogg.
