Cd'A rec seeking officials, scorekeepers for youth basketball program

The Coeur d'Alene Recreation Department is recruiting for officials and scorekeepers for its youth basketball program.

The program runs Monday-Thursday evenings and on Saturday mornings.

Potential employees can expect a schedule of 2 to 3 games on a weeknight and between 3 and 6 games on a Saturday. Most games are played at Woodland Middle School and at Skyway and Ramsey elementary schools.

Officials pay is $16-$18 depending on experience per game and scorekeeper pay is $12 per game.

Zags' Timme named to NABC Preseason Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Gonzaga's Drew Timme was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches preseason watch list for the 2021 NABC Division I Player of the Year on Thursday.

Last season, Timme was named a John R. Wooden Award Player of the Year Finalist, Wooden All-American, and second team All-American by Sporting News, the Associated Press, NABC and USBWA.

Timme, a Preseason All-American and the 2022 West Coast Conference Player of the Year was named first team All-Conference the last two seasons, after being named All-Freshman in 2019-20.

Timme was a finalist for last season's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. He averaged 27.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in last season's NCAA Tournament. The Dallas native ranks 15th in program history with 1,521 points and 15th with 617 rebounds.

The 2023 NABC Division I Player of the Year — selected by a vote of Division I head coaches — will be announced the week of the 2023 Men's Final Four in Houston. Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe captured the award last season, and will look to become the award's first repeat winner since Duke's Jason Williams in 2001 and 2002.
