Canyon Elementary School will be hosting its annual Ham and Turkey Dinner & Auction fundraiser next weekend and they’re inviting everyone to come and enjoy some great food and support an important cause.

The dinner operates as the primary fundraiser for the small school in Cataldo — which allows it to maintain the school’s emphasis on science and exploration.

The Canyon School Organization (CSO) planned and put on the event, and group president Alexa Griffin is excited for this year’s edition of the wildly popular event.

“The Ham and Turkey Dinner & Auction is Canyon's one and only fundraising endeavor,” Griffin told the News-Press. “It allows the parents and volunteers to focus on one large event that provides CSO funding for our entire school year. The school and community enjoy the dinner, games and auction as a fun family night out.”

As always, the event is propped up by the support of donations from businesses throughout the region — which provide many of the silent auction items that generate substantial funds.

The other big ticket item is the quilt raffle.

Each year a quilt is made and then generously donated to the school for the raffle, this year’s was once again stitched by Kellogg School Board Chairwoman Bonnie Farmin.

Tickets for the quilt will be available for purchase later this week and will be sold by students of CES.

CES prides itself on the opportunities it affords its students. Without the funds from the Ham and Turkey Dinner, things like field trips, Science Fridays, visits from Radical Rick, Grandparent's Day, Artist in Residence, Fisher Science, and other events and supplies needed for their staff and students simply would not be possible.

Canyon Elementary School’s Ham and Turkey Dinner & Auction are Saturday, Nov. 19, with dinner being served from 4-6 p.m. The silent auction will run from 4 p.m. through 5:45 p.m., and the live auction kicks off at 6 p.m.

Tickets for dinner are $7 per person, and children aged 4 and under are free.

“We love seeing the support from our current and past Canyon families, as well as all the people and businesses who donate to the auction,” Griffin said. “We can’t wait to see you there.”
