Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 2 months AGO
Hauser Lake Fire District is hosting the 36th annual Shalena’s Breakfast with Santa from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 11 at the Hauser Lake Fire Station, 10728 North Hauser.
There will be all-you-can-eat sausage, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, waffles, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and coffee for a suggested donation of $3 per person or $10 per family.
Every December, the Hauser Lake Fire District holds its annual Shalena’s Breakfast with Santa. This year, the recipient is a 17-year-old boy named Jacob, who has leukemia.
The fundraiser began in 1985 to raise money to help the family of a Hauser Lake firefighter whose daughter was diagnosed with cancer.
Even though Shalena lost her battle, her name lives on with the breakfast.
This event has become an annual tradition with help from Sacred Heart Hospital and local business and donations.
